New Woolly Pieces
My new wool colors are inspiring me to create some fun little woolly collages with a heart theme. Here's the beginning - hope to get a few collages assembled yet this week!
Needle felted squares.
Today I printed up a big selection of papers in different colors to use for collage backgrounds.
The most fun part is next - adding wire and words and putting the pieces together.

New Wool and Juicy Colors!
Yesterday Mr. B. and I went to Pufpaff's Fiber Processing in Hastings to pick up my wool. I had Sue Pufpaff dye the wool in lots of juicy colors - can't wait to start some new projects with the fun colors.
I usually leave the roving in the bags to store it...but this time I rolled it into giant jumbo balls - wish I had a big shelf to display them!
I really like this color - Pufpaff's dyed an orange over some of my dark brown wool - it came out looking like tiger stripes!

2010 Valley View Holiday Cards
Christmas cards are on the way - and the best part is they were free this year from Shutterfly - used their promotional offer and blogged about them on my Georgetown Elementary Blog, which earned me a nifty code for 50 free cards! Here's the link and information if you want to check it out! http://josettebrouwer.edublogs.org/2010/11/28/thinking-about-my-holiday-cards/

Latest resident of Valley View Farm
Meet Al the Alpaca, newest resident of Valley View Farm. He is very soft and will produce some nice wool, I think!
This is Al.
Felted Stones
Last summer I collected a pail of smooth stones from Lake Michigan. Just as an experiment I wrapped them in wool and felted them....and of course I had to add some words and a bit of wire too. They will be beautiful paperweights!

Give Thanks
Today was dedicated to finishing up several new fiber pieces, all with a Fall or harvest theme. I like this tiny little guy - only about 5 inches square - "Give Thanks for Another Harvest".

Two new pieces, soon to be on display at Thistle Gallery.
"In the Garden, My Soul is Sunshine"
"Sing Out Loud!"
This little needle felted bird is smaller than my others - about 5" long. He is too cute!

"When We Love, We Grow"
Another fiber collage headed to Thistle Gallery. The gallery experience is turning in to quite an adventure - just learned that I have sold two collage pieces, lots of soap, and a little fiber bird!

Orange Song Bird
More fun with the needle felted birds - I think the wire gives them a good bit of funky personality.

New Fiber Pieces Coming Soon!
My latest fiber collages are starting to shape up! I work in steps to create my art, moving from printing the backgrounds to bending and pounding wire and thinking about words and quotes that interest me. This week I've been needle-felting small shapes from wool (generously donated by my sheep!).
These juicy fiber shapes will soon be combined with hand printed papers, wire, and of course...words!

Soap In A Sweater
I have been having fun creating more "Soaps In A Sweater", and hope to have them available in a local business soon! These are made by wrapping wool roving around soap and then wet felting the fibers to the soap. The result is a decorative soap that creates tons of lather and gently exfoliates too.
Wool Roving and Soap - Soap in a Sweater begins!
