New Collages

Finishing up some new pieces this week.  Here's a peek.

I think some of these new collages will be suspended from felted stones.
We'll see if Thistle Gallery likes this option.

New Pieces

Finally, some time to finish up some new fiber pieces.  Several more in the works, but these two are ready to take to the gallery.

Lake Memories

I've been playing around with a collection of Petoskey stones that I found on the Lake Michigan shoreline last summer - dreaming of warmer days to come!  Here's one of my new lake inspired pieces.

(I entered it in Gallery Uptown's 14th Annual Winter Art Festival, but it didn't get in...oh well!)

Wine About Winter - Big Fun!

Friday night's Wine About Winter was a bunch of fun - except for the long drive home from Grand Haven in the blinding snow (whine...)
Crowds of visitors stopped by Down To Earth and looked at my artwork and asked interesting questions about needle felting, wool, and sheep.  Sold a few things too, which made the evening even more fun.

Check this link from the Grand Haven Tribune for more about Wine About Winter 2008.

Here's a look at my display at the store.

Wine About Winter

Looking for something fun to do in January?  Join me at Grand Haven's Second Annual "Wine About Winter" event.   On Friday, January 7, 2011 from 5-8 pm, local businesses will host West Michigan artists and serve tasty wines during this winter walking tour.

I'll be showing new fiber pieces and demonstrating needle felting techniques at Down To Earth, and my friend and fellow art teacher Maggie Bandstra will be showing her pottery at Be Medical Spa and Salon.

Here are two new pieces that I'll be showing at Down To Earth.

Here's a peek at a couple of Maggie's beautiful pots.

Stop by, sip a little wine, and have a look at what we've been creating!

New Woolly Pieces

My new wool colors are inspiring me to create some fun little woolly collages with a heart theme.  Here's the beginning - hope to get a few collages assembled yet this week!

Needle felted squares.

Today I printed up a big selection of papers in different colors to use for collage backgrounds.
The most fun part is next - adding wire and words and putting the pieces together.
